Hello, everyone! Welcome to a new school year at Aldersgate Playschool! We are so happy that you are here and we can not wait to get to know you and your family. The staff and I are here to help your child to have a wonderful experience every day they are at school. While they are here, they will play, make friends, sing songs, read books, and learn lots of exciting things. We have lots of fun and exciting things planned for the school year. Each month on the calendar, you will find the things that we will be highlighting for the month listed as “Curriculum.” There will also be a Bible verse on the calendar that will be used in the classes for that month. As you can see your monthly newsletter will be packed with lots of information that you can use. We hope that you will read it each month for all the details you will need. Your child’s teacher will also include a little blurb each month about what her class specifically will be doing that month. These newsletters will be sent home each month prior to the start of a new month (this is usually the last two days of a month in advance of a new month.)
FROM MRS. TOMS;
By now, I hope all of you have read the Playschool Handbook and the Classroom Handbook. I know it is a lot to read, but there is a good deal of information in both handbooks that you will need to know for the school year. Let me address a few very important things:
Web Page: Our monthly calendar and newsletter will be on our web page on the Aldersgate website. That website is www.aldersgateshelby.com. On the left hand side you will see Playschool listed. Click there and you will be able to access the monthly calendar as well as other information. You will also still be getting a paper copy. In addition, our Mom’s group leader, Lynn Greene, has developed a blog that will keep you up to date on all of our activites. You may access this at: http://aldersgateplayschoolparents.blogspot.com/.
Church Grounds: This is a no smoking campus. Please respect the beauty of the grounds.
Late Pick up Fee: Our day ends at 1:00 pm. The late pickup fee is $5.00 for the first 5 minutes and $1.00/minute after that.
Sick Children: Please refer to the section in your handbook. We will send sick children home and don’t want any children to be at school if they are not feeling well. This little poem really summarizes our policy:
Mary Had little lamb, she also had the flu.
And when she left her day care, the others had it too.
So anytime your child is sick, please keep her home with you.
Then the children in our day care will be happier and healthier too!
